Early Closure letter

Monday 19th October 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would first of all like to thank you all for the wonderful support you have shown your child’s academy during these difficult times. You’ll know how hard all our leaders and staff have worked during the last few months: managing intensive cleaning and health and safety processes, organising the way that students/children and staff move around and work, and ensuring that great learning and teaching takes placed throughout it all. I am so proud of them all, and I know you will join me in thanking them for their tireless efforts. I also want to congratulate you on the behaviour and determination of your child/ren who are rightly keen to get back to their learning. Staff in our Summit Academies have been very impressed with the excellent behaviour and attitude shown by all.
I’m very pleased to say that our risk assessments and safety measures have been highly effective, with relatively few cases of COVID-19 in our academies. Of course, we have followed Public Health England advice at all times, which is why we have taken the precautions of sending some students/children home when advised to do so.
At the end of a long half term, we plan to close our academies slightly early on Friday 23rd October, at 12pm. This is to ensure that we can put in place a deep clean in all academies, and can give all staff some time to plan and prepare for next half-term.
Please ensure that you make arrangements to collect your child as below:
Year 6 and Year 5 12:00pm
Year 4 and Year 3 12:10pm
Year 2, Year 1 and Reception at 12:20pm
There will be no after school clubs on Friday.
Finally, I wish you all a restful and healthy half term. None of us can be clear of the situation going forward, but rest assured, academy leaders and staff will all continue to work as hard as possible to keep academies open so that your child can continue and achieve safely.
Yours sincerely,

Catherine Anwar
